AUGUST 25 -- OCTOBER 1, 2004

James McBride's The Color of Water , a black man's memoir written as a tribute to his white mother, is the centerpiece of the third annual "One Book, One Community" project sponsored by the city of East Lansing and Michigan State University.

This year's program provides unique opportunities for students and community members alike because the author, James McBride, will be visiting East Lansing to kick-off the program.

The program gets underway on August 25, with a concert/lecture by James McBride at the Hannah Community Center in East Lansing. A full slate of programming- including reading groups, panel discussions and fun family events will run through October 1.
